People will most often seek therapy due to anxiety, depression,
anger, or grief. Whatever the issue is that you are looking to
resolve, we will co-create a treatment plan that is personalized
to fit your own personal therapy goals. This personalized
treatment plan or "wish list" will be planned out during your
first session of therapy. Each therapy session will actively work
towards achieving one or more of your goals. You will know
when it is time to "graduate" from therapy because all of the
goals you stated in your first sessions will be accomplished or
well on their way to being fulfilled.
You will be given practical tools and life skills to achieve your therapy goals sooner:
There may be times when you are asked to take certain actions outside of the therapy sessions, such as reading a relevant book or doing some behavioral homework (such as exercising or doing a couples date). It is important to process what has been discussed and integrate it into your life between sessions. Also, homework usually saves you time and money and allows you to accomplish your therapy goals faster. For therapy to be most effective you must be an active participant, both during and between the sessions. People seeking psychotherapy are willing to take responsibility for their actions, work towards self-change and create greater awareness in their lives.
Here are some things you can expect out of therapy:
Compassion, Respect, and Understanding
Transforming negative thoughts/behaviors to self-affirming ones that create joy
Effective tools and strategies for enacting positive change
An established treatment plan where each session moves you closer towards your goals
I offer three of the most progressive, cutting-edge,
trauma therapies that have proven to work very
rapidly and effectively. Individuals often report
having complete peace and resolution with a single
incident trauma in as little as two sessions. Results
may vary. For those suffering from multiple traumas
and far more complex PTSD, treatment usually lasts
three months, but, again, results vary. I use EMDR,
(Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing),
Brainspotting, and Somatic Archaeology. My goal is
to allow you to reprocess the trauma(s) so you can
be free from negative beliefs, physiological distress
and psychological pain as quickly as possible.
INDIVIDUAL, COUPLES, & FAMILY THERAPY
"My fiancé passed away from a sudden grand mal seizure and died in my arms while I was giving him CPR. He was 54 years old and he was planning a surprise 40th birthday party for me the next month. I came to Lisa Larson for EMDR because I was so traumatized. I kept seeing him take his last breath, feeling helpless, hopeless and devastated as i straddled his chest trying to give compressions. In one session of EMDR, we were able to reprocess this traumatic event. Today I have a beautiful vision of David, looking to heaven with God looking down upon him with loving eyes and outstretched arms. His loved ones gathered in a circle on the earth and are lifting up their open arms to let him go in peace. There is only peace and comfort in my heart today and none of the devastation of the past. Thank you Lisa and EMDR!"
